A Celebration of Life Through Images

Meet Mary Pat

The luckiest girl in the world…WebOp_VW7I0025MP

Thirty years ago I took my love for photographing people and made it my career.   Since my teens,  I made my family, friends and even strangers the subject of this passion.  I clicked my way through high school and college, locked myself in a makeshift darkroom (mom’s laundry room) and was forever in awe of each image that magically appeared through the smelly chemicals.  I just knew this was what I wanted to do in my life but then I told mom…”What? You can’t make a living out of your hobby!  You need to get a real  job!”.  And so I did.

I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in business and I did get a real job – a good one.  In 1990, I had a career as a Human Resources Director for a high tech computer firm but I still had this itch that there was something else out there for me.  When my parents moved to Cape May, I fell in love with this seaside town and then I knew this is where I wanted to be.   So I quit my  job, purchased a pro camera,  sold the house, packed up the cats and headed to Cape May.  Scary as it seems now, I never looked back.  Today my historic carriage house is my corporate headquarters, the beach is my workspace and every day is casual Friday.

My passion was always photographing people, so it was only natural that I became a portrait artist.  Meeting interesting people and sharing in the special times of their lives has always been a privilege for me.  Through my lens, I’ve witnessed as couples married, children were born and families grew.  And along the way so many clients became my friends.

Today I continue to create portrait art for my clients and I love what I do everyday.   My other love is travel.  In our winter months my favorite Guy and I travel to places near and far meeting and photographing interesting people, countries and cultures.  You can view some of my travel images on my blog.

Always thankful, I know that I am the luckiest girl in the world.  ♥
