In 2007 five friends and I rented a villa on the cliffs of Positano for a couple of weeks. To this day, Positano is still the place where I dream of living one day. It’s hard to describe the feeling but anyone who has been there knows the magic of this village on the sea. It is the most picturesque town that I have ever seen with the vertical houses tumbling down to the sea in a cascade of sun-bleached peach, pink and terracotta colors. No less colorful are its steep streets and steps lined with wisteria. Steps that I believed would either kill me or finally get me in shape!
John Steinbeck visited in 1953 and wrote in an article for Harper’s Bazaar: ‘Positano bites deep. It is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone’.
So true. ♥
